Prep Work

CERAZORB Green and the flooring material must acclimatize, in their sealed packaging, in the room where they are installed for at least 48 hours, at temperature of at least 65ºF.

Wood Floor Construction

The sub floor should be permanently dry, smooth, flat, and clean free from dirt, grease, wax, paint, oil or anything that would hinder a good bond . Plywood sub flooring should be of a good grade.  Variations in floor level over 1/8” within 3 feet span should be leveled before installing underlayment.  Any nails or other protrusions should be pounded flat or removed.  Sub floor should have L360 for deflection.

Concrete Slab

Inspect concrete sub floor for any open cracks and fill with a high grade patch. Remove any excess concrete lumps or residue that may interfere with the installation of CERAZORB Green. The concrete slab should be permanently dry, smooth, flat, and clean free from dirt, grease, wax, paint, oil or anything that would hinder a good bond. A good quality concrete waterproof sealer may be required if moisture in the slab is above 10%. Always follow manufacturer’s adhesive requirements for moisture when gluing to concrete.

Installation of Ceramic Tile

Make sure to follow applicable ANSI A.108 A.118 A.136 and TCA guidelines for proper installation of ceramic tile.

CERAZORB Green can be bonded to the sub floor with many commercial grade carpet adhesives. Ensure adhesive is a commercial grade that can be used in concrete applications, such as “Roberts” 6700 indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive. Use a 1/8 x1/8 inch V notched trowel for applying bonding adhesive.

When installing CERAZORB Green install flush to wall making sure to butt the edges of CERAZORB Green together. Do not overlap the membrane. CERAZORB Green can be trimmed during installation with a utility knife to ensure complete coverage. After applying bond coat use a 35lb roller followed by a flat trowel to smooth out the air pockets.

Cut 1" by 4' strips off the roll and fasten to wall with adhesive in a vertical fashion around all walls. This will act as a perimeter isolation between the tile & grout and the wall surface.

When applying tiles to CERAZORB Green it is necessary to use a multi-purpose flexible thin set. Latex modified thin set is recommended such as Laticrete 254 or equal.

Make sure to follow all thin set and grout manufacturer instructions. After grouting cut back perimeter isolation material and install base/trim board slightly off floor - 1/16" to 1/8" off

Installation of Glue Down Hardwood Flooring

Note: When using CERAZORB Green for glue down hardwood installation it is important that the underlayment be glued to the sub floor. Always use the same adhesive to bond the CERAZORB Green to the sub floor as you would the wood flooring to the CERAZORB Green. (note the only exception is using Roberts 6700 as the bond coat and then use a wood adhesive to glue the hardwood down)

Please insure that you followed all prep work for concrete slabs (see above). Recommended adhesive: Sika T-55, Sika-35,DriTac 7600. Use 1/8” x 1/8” x 3/16” V– notched trowel. Start in a corner and roll out CERAZORB Green. Cut the CERAZORB Green to maintain a 1/4” gap from the walls. Roll up the roll half way and apply adhesive on exposed area, roll back over adhesive flat trowel any air pockets, continue with other side the same way. Continue rolling out and gluing down CERAZORB Green the same manner until the entire area is covered . Make sure the edges are tightly butted together, both side by side & end by end. Use a 35 lb roller to fully bond CERAZORB Green to sub floor. After 24 hours follow manufacturers written instructions for gluing engineered hardwood to CERAZORB Green. Hold trim board 1/16” off floor to avoid flanking paths.
